Biography
Belgian mezzo-soprano Florine God has been passionate about the arts from an early age, first studying flute and classical dance before turning to singing. She further enriched this multidisciplinary background by earning a Master’s degree in German and Italian Languages and Literatures from the University of Liège, and through her vocal training with Christine Solhosse (Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles) and Mireille Alcantara (École Normale de Musique de Paris), where she graduated with highest honours thanks to a full scholarship from Nei Stëmmen.
Florine God is a prizewinner of the 15th Gordes International Competition, where she received four awards, leading to invitations from institutions such as the Festival des Saisons de la Voix, the Opéra de Nice, the Opéra d’Avignon, and the Chorégies d’Orange within the television programme Musiques en fête (France Télévisions). She is also a finalist of the Marmande International Competition.
Her professional debut was marked by a formative encounter with Jennifer Larmore, who chose to support her artistic development. Recent engagements include appearances at La Monnaie in Brussels, concert performances of Verdi’s Requiem at the Sorbonne in Paris, and the world premiere of Jean-Luc Fafchamps’ Deux leçons. She opens the 2026 season as Carmen at the Belgian festival Il pleut des cordes.
Alongside her operatic career, she is deeply committed to chamber music and historical repertoire through her ensemble Veradectis, comprising organ, sackbut and voice.

“Florine God is our true revelation. From the very first notes, she enchants us; she possesses that indefinable quality that sends shivers down your spine and makes you feel as though you could fly.”
